WATERCOLOR BY DAWSON DAWSON-WATSON Wonderful watercolor by Texas artist Dawson Dawson-Watson. This painting was done while he was living in New England. It is dated 1932. Dimensions: sight - 13-1/2 x 9-1/4 inches; frame 21 x 16-1/2 inches. It is in very good condition. It has not been taken out of the frame and glass for examination.

PORFIRIO SALINAS PAINTING, MATADOR This is an unusual subject for Porfirio Salinas to paint - a Spanish matador and bull. It is a wonderful painting - signed Porfirio Salinas in the lower left corner. It is an oil on canvas board. Sight: 9 x 12-3/8 inches. Framed: 12 x 15-1/4 inches. Wood frame. Probably not original frame. The back shows where brown archival paper had been removed. It is backed by a piece of cardboard. The painting is in very good condition. There are a couple of small indentations in the canvas in the upper portion, background above the bull's rump. There is no cracking, crazing or paint loss.

PORFIRIO SALINAS TEXAS LANDSCAPE PAINTING Wonderful painting of a Texas landscape with verbenas by well-known Texas artist, Porfirio Salinas. It is signed Porfirio Salinas in the lower left corner. Salinas lived from 1910 to 1973. While living in San Antonio, Texas, he was apprenticed to Robert Wood and Jose Arpa. His landscapes became very popular in the 1950s. Some of the early purchasers or his paintings were Congressman Sam Rayburn, J. Frank Dobie, President Lyndon Johnson and Governor John Connally. His paintings once hung in the national capitols of the United States and Mexico. Salinas is one of the most well-known artists from Texas, famous for his landscapes. His paintings are extremely collectible and have appreciated and continue to appreciate in value. The canvas size of this painting is 24 x 36 inches.

TEXAS MISSION PAINTING BY PAUL RODDA COOK This is an original oil on canvas painting of Mission Concepcion in San Antonio, Texas, by Texas artist Paul Rodda Cook. He was a painter of landscapes, portraits, still-lifes; a muralist and lecturer. Cook was a native of Uvalde, Texas, and attended the University of Texas. He had exhibitions at many museums throughout Texas, including the Witte Museum, San Antonio Art Museum, and the National Exhibition of American Art at Rockefeller Center in New York in 1936 - 1938. The painting canvas size is 16 x 18-1/2 inches. The painting also has a landscape painting on the back. It is in excellent condition.

Peter Lanz Hohnstedt was born in Ohio but came to Texas in 1929 lived and painted in San Antonio, Leon Springs, Comfort, and Austin, Texas. He exhibited in Texas, Louisiana, California, and Washington state.

TEXAS LANDSCAPE PAINTING BY CARL HOPPE This bluebonnet painting is an oil on board by Carl Hoppe. It identified on the back as Sunset in Elmendorf Tex Bluebonnets & Oaks C. Hoppe. The canvas (or board) size is 12 x 15-3/4 inches. Framed it measures 13 x 17 inches. The painting is in very good condition although there is one pinhead-sized nick in the clouds. (It appears to be a high point on the surface which was knocked off leaving a very small white spot.) Carl Thomas Hoppe lived from 1897 - 1981. He was born and lived in San Antonio, Texas. Hoppe studied with Jose Arpa, Joyce Organ and Bess K. Pyle.
