WESTERN THEME WATERCOLOR BY BYRON WOLFE
Byron B. Wolfe of California – print of watercolor entitled "Forkin’ a Tough One!" Sight 11 x 15-1/2; framed 22-1/2 x 26-1/2. On an index card on the back, Mr. Wolfe printed the following information about the painting: "Forkin’ a Tough One." Time – Post Civil War. Place – Texas Ranches from the Rio to the Red. Note The cowboy worked hard, but he had "his fun" – lots of pranks and horseplay, horse racin’, takin on a "bronc" lots of time he lost or won a months wages on the outcome. Ref: Cowboy Lingo by Ramon F. Adams. The Humor of the American Cowboy by Stan Hoig.
Also on the back is a copy of a piece written and signed by Mr. Wolfe. He was born in Kansas, and at the time of this painting (1981) his home and studio were in Leawood, Kansas. He collects Western books, cowboy gear, guns and Indian artifacts which he keeps in his studio to inspire him and make his work as authentic as possible. He paints only western paintings and was selected to be a member of the "Cowboy Artists of America."
On the matting is a small remark and sketch of a man on a horse. He has printed on the mat that it is from the sketchbook of Byron B. Wolfe.
The painting is in very good condition. There is some staining on the linen portion of the frame.

PEYROL LITHOGRAPH
Erick Peyrol, lithograph titled “Les Piquets” This lithograph features ribbons of opalescent pink thread on a pale blue-green sky, an unforgettably lovely vision mirrored in a country pond’s shallow water. The weathered rough forms of brownish black marsh grasses, expressive wintry trees and a half-submerged fence contrast vigorously with the quiescent beauty of pond and sky. Framing is chosen to provide completely harmonious colorings from the double matting of soft ivory edged with moss green, to the metal frame’s antique pewter tone. Lithograph pulled at Gerapholith, Paris, 1976.
Peyrol born 1948. Early on achieved substantial recognition and success in his native France. Born in Caaen, he attended the Ecole des Cbeaux Arts in Rouen and then studied at the Academie Julien in Paris for two years. But Peyrol’s art education began well in advance of formal schooling. The son of prominent French painter and lithographer Letellier, Peyrol was attracted as a young child to the paints and pencils of his father’s atelier. Although the elder artist denies undue parental persuasion, he did admit to encouragement and delight in observing his son’s aptitude and progress. Peyrol exhibited regularly in the principal salons of Paris and had yearly one-man shows in Paris and the provinces. His representation in the Galerie Laurens on the Avenue Matignon – the Parisian equivalent of Madison Avenue – further indicates a significant talent. He was awarded the third Prix Lutetia in 1970. Sight: 15-3/4 x 21-5/8; double matted. Frame 21-3/4 x 27. Very good condition.

LITHOGRAPH BY MARION GREENWOOD
Artist: Marion Greenwood. American, 1909 - 1970.Original signed lithograph, limited edition, titled “Wanderlust.” Sight 15-3/4 x 11-5/8; matted; wood frame painted black; 20-1/2 x 16-1/2. Litho in excellent condition. At the age of 23, brilliant and beautiful Marion Greenwood was the first American woman to execute a mural on commission for a foreign government. Mexico invited her to decorate its public buildings, its university, its hotels. Mexico’s former president Lazaro Cardenas publicly lauded Miss Greenwood’s artistic contribution to his country upon her completion of frescoes in the University of San Nicolas Hidalgo. Born with inherited artistic talent, she abandoned the usual schooling when very young to learn to paint in New York and Paris. Returning, she won scholarships, exhibitions, applause of the art world and the public. Widely traveled, Miss Greenwood has found inspiration for her painting from China to the West Indies. Her work has won numerous prizes and awards, including the National Second Prize at Carnegie, and the Benjamin Altman First Prize of the National Academy. Her most important works are on permanent display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, the Enclyclopedia Britannica, the Library of Congress and many other noted public and private collections both here and abroad.
