This is a great gutta percha Union Case. In the interior it states that it is a "Genuine Union Case, Improved. Fine Gilt and Burnished Hinge. Scovill Mf'g Co." The hinges are original. The gutta percha case has rounded corners. It is in very good condition but does have some nicks or chips. It has a shallow chip on the upper left corner of the front cover and a smaller chip (about 1/16 inch) on the lower edge, center front. It also has a a couple of pinhead-size nicks on the edge of the back portion and one shallow nick about 1/4 inches long on the hinge edge of the back.. The interior velvet is in very good condition with one very small patch of missing nap. The case is 3 inches x 2-1/2 inches. The gilt-framed tintype has some tarnish and is 2-1/2 x 2 inches. The picture is of a very stern-looking lady. |
