Majolica-style porcelain pipe tobacco jar measuring 6-1/2 inches x 6 inches. We believe it is Handel, but have not been able to confirm that from marks. That company operated in Connecticut and then New York City from 1885 to 1933. It has olive green exterior with man smoking pipe and floral design on the front. Lid has a pipe on top. Written in pen under the lid is "Aug. 1927" Marks on bottom: 6617 7 0. This is in excellent condition except for a small flake, about 1/8 inch, on the bottom corner of one of the legs. |
