Early bright orange pitcher with pewter lid and hand-painted warrior scenes. The hand-painted scenes are excellent quality work. The pitcher is 8 inches tall and 7 inches across, including handle. One scene has the caption "Hector's Body dragged at the car of Achilles." The other scene has the caption "________between Hector and Ajax." These two captions are also printed on the bottom of the pitcher. The number "9268" is painted on bottom. The handle has a hairline fracture across the lower portion which has been glued. The pewter lid hinge works. The pewter lid is marked inside "H. Hall Handley." The pitcher is in excellent condition. It has all-over crazing. The pewter band on the top is slightly misshapen at the back above the handle from use. It is circa 1821 - 1841.
