| This wonderful oil on canvas shows Victorian woman at leisure. It depicts four young women in Victorian dress playing a game in which the lady in the center is blindfolded. They are full-length figures of the women on a dark background. The dimensions are: 40-1/4 x 30 inches canvas size; and 53 x 43 inches framed. The ornate, gilt wood frame is approximately 7 inches wide. It appears to be from the late 19th or early 20th century. There is no visible signature. The painting is in very good condition. Note the old, patched linen or canvas backing rather than paper. The frame is in very good condition except for a broken area at the left lower corner (right corner if facing the painting). The piece is broken but still attached. |
