This bluebonnet painting is an oil on board by Carl Hoppe. It identified on the back as Sunset in Elmendorf Tex Bluebonnets & Oaks C. Hoppe. The canvas (or board) size is 12 x 15-3/4 inches. Framed it measures 13 x 17 inches. The painting is in very good condition although there is one pinhead-sized nick in the clouds. (It appears to be a high point on the surface which was knocked off leaving a very small white spot.) Carl Thomas Hoppe lived from 1897 - 1981. He was born and lived in San Antonio, Texas. Hoppe studied with Jose Arpa, Joyce Organ and Bess K. Pyle. |
