This wonderful mother of pearl gambling chip is 1-3/8 inches in diameter and is in excellent condition. It was probably made in the 18th century. These were used as counters in gambling games of that time in China and Europe. An intricate design is incised on both sides of the counter. This intricate engraving was done by master craftsmen with a burin or graver tool. |
