| This Meerschaum pipe is 4 inches long and 1-1/2 inches high. It has a galloping horse on top and an amber mouthpiece. It is all original in the original leather case. There is a script name in the interior of the lid. We are not sure if it is a brand name or an owner wrote his name in there. The pipe is in very good condition but does have some teeth marks from use. The case is in good condition. Meerschaum pipes are very popular because of the nature of the material from which they are made. Meerschaum is a rare mineral similar to a light, hard clay. The light and porous qualities of the material keep the smoke cool and smooth. Because the pipe absorbs the nicotine, it slowly changes color to tans and browns. The pipe becomes more valuable the longer it is smoked because of this color change. |
