This is a lovely Meerschaum pipe with amber mouthpiece. There are two hand-carved Irish or English setters facing in opposite directions. It is all original in its original leather and velvet case. It is 4-1/2 inches long x 2 inches high. The case is in used condition. Meerschaum pipes are very popular because of the nature of the material from which they are made. Meerschaum is a rare mineral similar to a light, hard clay. The light and porous qualities of the material keep the smoke cool and smooth. Because the pipe absorbs the nicotine, it slowly changes color to tans and browns.
