This is a wonderful, old curly maple, ladderback chair. It is 38-1/4 inches to the top of the finial in the back. The seat heigth is 16 inches. The seat is 17-1/2 inches wide at the front, narrowing to 14 inches at the back. It is 13 inches deep. The seat is 1/2 inch, flat cane (or rush) and is in excellent condition. The underside of the seat is finished like the top. The chair is sturdy and in very good condition. There are some surface or age cracks but they do not appear to affect the stability of the piece. The front rungs are worn quite a bit and curved where feet rested. It is a wonderful old chair, with a great patina and exhibitz appropriate wear for its age. |
